Nine Lights Surfboards
I learned how to build compsand boards through articles on
Bob Simons' sandwich boards from the 40's and 50's and modern glider
wing construction techniques. I was fascinated with the strength and
beauty of wood and the simplicity of of using natural materials. The
name Nine Lights came from a local spot I have surfed my whole life
here in Huntington Beach. It's as far north as you can go in the city,
somewhat fickle, overlooked, and occasionally great. When I was young
my brothers and I would ride our bikes to the beach and count nine
street lights down from the main road that led to the beach. We always
knew there would be something to ride there.
